I have gone a half of E7 routine so it is not extraordinary to me. I understood the basic of a critical response essay and I had a writing test this week. I am waiting the result which will be noticed on next Monday. I have known some new vocabularies on critical essay such as "vested interests", "coherent" and so on. And now I am preparing to practise to analyse two articles to evaluate them. It seems not to be so difficult but it makes me confused about choosing an appropriate essay structure. In addition, I need to learn some comparative languages to support my writing because we have to compare the arguments of two articles.
This week, I have searched some journals and images to prepare my oral presentation. I will make and design the content of presentation at this weekend. I have to spend more time to finish it next week because the final exam is coming. I practised some listening tests in class with a variety of topics; therefore, I could identify some signal languages and key information. However, I have not answered over a half of total questions; I should do more listening tests to achieve the good result at the end. We also read many articles to do short answer questions and sentence completion. I can identify where the answers are in the reading text but it is difficult to paraphrase them. The requirement is short answer but my answer is sometimes too long. It is necessary to review the grammar points to absolutely correct the sentence completion part.
The final test is coming so I need to study harder in the next week. Try my best!!

Reflection #2
Wow.....another week has finished......time is so fast :( so i just have two week before the final examination. However first i have to pay attention for the writing test in next week.In this week, i did practise a lot about critical response and my teacher helped me get used to write good essay step by step. I must learn by heart 7 steps to a critical analysis :
1. identify the author's main arguments
2. - analyse the arguments
- provide a counter argument
3. evidence
- what evidence is given?
- is it weak or strong?
- use examples from the text
4. identify the argument's main bias,tone,and language
5. choose which arguments u want to response to
6. planning
7. write and edit
Listening: I have to say that listening still challenges to me. I can understand the main idea of the lecture that i heard however i get trouble when catching details to answer questions. The reason can be my bad note-taking :((. Hope it will better next week.
Speaking: today i start researching for my topic - "difficulties of vietnamese students in speaking" and i will finish my presentation at the last day of next week in my plan.
Reading: I think it is the best thing in my four skills however i can not lose my concentration at anything.
That's my second reflection ^^ another week 's coming...

Reflection week 1
Today is the last day of the first week. I still feel so worry about the final exams especially listening and writing :(.
Listening is my weakness skill and i just got 73% in last module. Moreover, listening in E7 is really quite different & difficult than E6 and i do not have much time to practise listening in my class except one lecture in unit 1 that's why i spent all the time to practise listening beside doing homework. Now i feel a little bit better but there is still a lot of work which i need to finish for my expectation result in E7.
Writing is another my worry :( because i dont have any experience about critical essay.
I have to say that responding to main arguments in an article is difficult but i will try my best :). I must know how to write a good critical analysis before the test. Hope everything will be fine ^^

A listening strategy to help you develop your listening exam skills.
The lecture for each week of E7 is on RESO07. You will find them in ‘Course Documents’ under ‘Listening Resources’.
You will also be provided with the transcript of the lecture each week.
You can use the following strategies:
1. Read the transcript, several times if you need to, so that you understand the content and structure of the lecture.
2. Listen to the lecture while reading the transcript to listen for individual words.
3. You can also listen to ‘phrasing’ which means listen to how individual words are joined together in meaningful groups.
4. Use the transcript to identify key words that you think you are likely to hear again in lectures ie general academic words: develop your own ‘note-taking’ forms of these words.
5. Use the transcript to identify key phrases that occur all the time e.g. ‘leads to’, and develop your own ‘note-taking’ forms of these.
6. Listen to the lecture without any help and practise note-taking.

hungpham E7P learning style
Kinaesthetic learners or active learners
Kinaesthetic learners prefer to being involved in activities. They need to apply the information and make it their own by constructing something or practising a technique or skill.
Characteristics of kinaesthetic learners
* Often they take notes or even draw pictures or doodle whilst listening
* Remember best what they did
* Memorise by walking and seeing
* Like ‘hands on’ activities and group interaction
Cartoon of kinaesthetic learner
Study hints for kinaesthetic learners
* Test your learning by applying it or transforming it to another form. For example use lecture notes or readings to draw a diagram, flow chart or even construct a model.
* Start or join a study group
* Relate facts or theories to your own experience
* Learn or memorise information by teaching or telling someone else
* When studying take frequent breaks. This is also helpful for the other learning styles.
